New Vaccine Law

On May 17, 2023, the Governor signed into law HB1380/SB111 (amendment of Tennessee Code Annotated 63.1) stating that only parents or legal guardians of minors can provide consent for vaccination. As a result, stepparents, foster parents, and caregivers with power of attorney or delegated consent will no longer be able to provide consent for vaccination.

Additionally, some custodial caregivers may be unable to sign based upon wording in court documents. Therefore, it’s necessary that we review all custodial paperwork on file and may request further, or updated, documentation. We truly regret any inconvenience or undue hardship this will cause our families.
